"Astro Info" is installed the same way as any other Palm
application.
Download the file ‘astroinfo-3.0.zip’. It contains
the program (American English), the DST rules, the star catalogs,
the planet bitmaps,
and the documentation. Additionally you can download the zip file for
the language you prefer (see below). This contains only the program.
Use your Palm Desktop software (or pilot-link if you
use Linux) to install the following files on your Palm, Visor or
TRGPro:
- Astro-xx.prc
- The main program. The english version is
included, the other languages can be downloaded separately.
- Astro-en_us.prc
- English (American)
- Astro-en_uk.prc
- English (British)
- Astro-de.prc
- Deutsch
- Astro-ca.prc
- Catalan
- Astro-ru.prc
- Russian; You also need cyrhack to get
cyrillic fonts.
You can only install one of these.
In addition to the basic program, there are a number of
optional files you can install if you choose. It is recommended
that you install at least the first three:
- dstrules.pdb
- A list of rules for daylight savings
time. It contains predefined rules for most countries.
- PlanetsXY.prc
- A resource file containing bitmaps for
sun, moon and the eight planets. These are available in three
sizes (Small, Medium and Large) and in gray or color. Installing
one of these removes any previous installed one.
- AllStars.pdb
- The Yale Bright Star Catalogue containing
stars up to magnitude 6.5 and beyond. Stars are identified by
their constellation, Beyer letter, and SAO number.
- Messier.pdb
- The Messier catalog - The classic list of
famous stellar objects.
- Caldwell.pdb
- The Caldwell catalog - A modern
counterpart to the Messier catalog, the Caldwell catalog is a
list of some of the most interesting objects in our skies.
- Bennett.pdb
- The Jack Bennett catalog - A modern
counterpart to the Messier catalog, the Caldwell catalog is a
list of some of the most interesting objects in our skies.
- rngc3.pdb
- The Revised NGC catalogue by Wolfgang
Steinicke.
- ric3.pdb
- The Revised IC catalogue by Wolfgang
Steinicke.
- Astro.pdb
- Some documentation on Astro Info, in DOC
format.
- Location.pdb
- A list of cities and their latitude and
longitude, in DOC format.

Info.
And that's it. Once you've copied the files to your Palm,
you're ready to go!
